Profile
Dr. Nicole Kellan Behnke is a native Michigander who completed her undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan and an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at LA County-Harbor UCLA Medical Center. After residency, Dr. Behnke went on to fellowship training in Orthopaedic Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Post-fellowship, she held an academic appointment at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where her clinical practice focused on musculoskeletal oncology and trauma. After several years in academic practice and post-graduate medical residency education, Dr. Behnke moved to Oregon in 2017, and has been happily playing in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest since then.
Dr. Behnke’s current clinical practice focus is primarily community trauma, and she also regularly cares for patients experiencing the musculoskeletal complications of metastatic cancer. She finds great professional reward in helping Orthopaedic patients and their families move through what can be an overwhelming life event with respect and dignity. She also feels strongly about working towards equitable access to quality health care for all populations.
Dr. Behnke is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, an educator and volunteer in austere-environment Orthopaedics, a trail runner, hiker, skier, and adventurer who loves the mountains. She is also a classically trained pianist, and a parent to two energetic and adventurous young children, with whom she enjoys sharing her all-seasons outdoor enthusiasm and activities.
