Ken Takenaka, M.Ed., ATC, OTC, BCS-O

When Ken Takenaka decided that athletic training was the right career path for him, little did he know that it would lead him off the playing field and into the office. “ Having worked as an athletic trainer in the collegiate setting and loving it, I never imagined leaving it for something that I love so much more.” His passion for sports medicine and surgical assisting led him from his life in Georgia out to the Pacific Northwest.

They genuinely care about every patient, wanting what’s best for their individual life, and I really connect with that.” Ken believes that some of the most important factors in patient outcomes are trust in your team, patient education, and caring about the patient, not just the injury. Whether your goal is to get back to skiing and football or to just live life a bit more comfortably, Ken believes that understanding your body, including its limitations, can add to quality of life.

When he’s not in the office, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He volunteers his time working with animal rescue organizations and fostering cats and dogs. Ken enjoys serving his profession and has been involved with multiple professional committees including the ATPPS, OATS, BOC, and the Oregon Board of Athletic Trainers.
